Why is mounting the switch with tape or zip ties bad?

Both wrap tightly around the switch body and apply constant compressive force directly to the printed circuit board (PCB) and momentary mechanism inside. That force kills the switch in 4–8 weeks of pro use. The Button Clip GTAW grips the switch at its outer body geometry only — the internal components stay stress-free.

Three sizes cover most major-brand TIG torches: Small (Series 9 / WP-9 — ~0.55" handle OD), Medium (Series 17 / WP-17 / PTW-17 — ~0.71" OD, the most common production torch), and Large (Series 26 / WP-26 / Magnum PRO-26 — ~0.83" OD). Which switches does it work with?

Designed around the three most common TIG remote HF start momentary switches: Radnor / Miller-Weldcraft SW-1F (flat), ATTC / Linde SW-1 (bulb), and EWS Pro / Everlast ETSW-1. Most other equivalent momentary switches in the same body geometry will fit the same clip. If your switch isn&rsquo;t on the list, contact us with the part number.

How do I know which size to order?

Measure the outer diameter of your torch handle with calipers, just behind the cup. Match the measurement to the size guide chart — Small is 0.50–0.60", Medium is 0.65–0.75", Large is 0.78–0.90". If you don&rsquo;t have calipers, look up your torch model on the brand compatibility pages.

Do I need any tools to install it?

Accepted Answer

No. The clip snaps onto your torch handle by hand. Drop the switch into the cradle, rotate to your thumb position, and you&rsquo;re welding. Total install time is under two minutes. Step-by-step photos on the install page.

Can I rotate the button after installing?

Accepted Answer

Yes — full 360° rotation around the torch handle. Re-position any time for out-of-position welds, overhead pipe, or whenever your normal grip changes.

Yes. The clip mounts to the torch handle, not the cable, so coolant routing isn&rsquo;t affected. Pick the size that matches your water-cooled torch&rsquo;s handle OD — typically Medium or Large for water-cooled models.
